by the way, i am not in any way insinuating that any of our childless friends are anything but wonderfully understanding and dear to us. i just thought the original writer was particularly selfish...

I don't see how anyone who has ever babysat for a couple of hours can NOT understand what that would be like. Only multiplied times FOREVER. Being a mom is way more than a full time job.

The funny thing is that I really can't relate much at all to the questioner. I used to be single. I used to be childless. But I think I always knew that being a mom was a LOT of work.

I must confess that about a week before Mac was born, I remember sitting on the couch one night (not sleeping, even though everyone was telling me "get your rest now!" - haha), and wondering, "So, what am I actually going to *do* all day long?" Little did I know... ;o)

And now, most days I find myself looking at the clock and saying, "Already? It's already __ o'clock? How did that happen??"

We read this article at our MOPS group last week and had an interesting conversation about it. It does seem like the questioner is especially out-of-touch, but I thought the respondent did an excellent job of answering...
